Today In Ai
Meta can now turn your brain waves into sentences. Brain2Qwerty v2 reads raw brain signals from a noninvasive scanner and decodes them into text in real time, hitting 61% accuracy. It is Meta's best brain-to-text model so far, trained on roughly 22,000 sentences across 9 volunteers. The goal is helping people who can no longer speak after a stroke or brain injury communicate again. Learn more here.
Your AI assistant just went mobile. OpenClaw, the platform that made personal AI assistants popular back in January, now has apps on iOS and Android. Cursor launched its own iOS app too, letting you fire off cloud coding agents from your pocket. Here is the viral release video breaking down how it works, already at 3M views.
Memory chip giants face a price-fixing lawsuit. A new California lawsuit accuses Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron, who together control roughly 90% of the global DRAM market, of coordinating to restrict supply and inflate prices. Memory prices have been climbing for a year, pushing up costs on everything from Apple Macs to the Xbox.

From The Frontier
The gap is closing.
For years, proprietary models like Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini were simply better than open-weight alternatives, so the choice was easy. That changed fast over the past few months as open-weight contenders caught up, and now companies actually have a decision to make.
What is the actual difference.
Open-weight models are published freely, so you can download them, host them privately, customize them, and keep data on your own machines. Proprietary models like GPT-5.5 and Claude stay closed. You access them only through the company that built them, usually via a chatbot or an API.
Why teams are considering the switch.
Open-weight models offer more control, better privacy, and often lower long-term costs. None of that mattered much when the performance gap was wide. It matters now. Zhipu AI's GLM-5.2 currently ranks sixth on Artificial Analysis' leaderboard, trailed closely by MiniMax-M3 and DeepSeek V4 Pro.
The budget reality forcing the question.
Some companies, including Uber and ServiceNow, blew through their entire 2026 AI budget in just four months. Shifting some workloads to cheaper open-weight models is one fix on the table, though performance, security, and engineering overhead still make it the wrong call for plenty of teams.

What people are actually watching and sharing
The fix for an AI that follows instructions too literally. A Redditor added one rule to their system prompt: always suggest a better alternative before doing the task. See the full prompt, already at 2.5K upvotes.
Five jobs that might replace your job title. Claude Code's creator laid out five role archetypes he expects to replace today's domain-specific tech jobs. 2M views.
The writing tic that gives away AI text. The internet is now calling out fake profound statements as a dead giveaway of LLM writing. Worth rephrasing this structure if you are leaning on AI for drafts.
Cartoons turned live action in seconds. This viral Tom and Jerry clip shows how easily today's video tools convert 2D animation into 3D live action. 3.5M views.
A tool built to keep your data out of chatbots. The National Design Studio released Rampart, an on-device tool that helps separate your personal information from AI chatbots before it ever reaches them.

Prompt Station
The Anti-Yes-Man Prompt
Tired of your AI assistant blindly doing exactly what you asked, even when there is a smarter way to do it. Add this one rule to your system prompt or project instructions and your assistant will start pushing back with better ideas before it executes.
Before completing any task I give you, briefly consider whether there is a
better, faster, or more effective way to achieve my underlying goal.
If you identify a better alternative, suggest it first in one or two
sentences, then ask whether I want to proceed with your suggestion or
stick with my original request.
If my original request is already the best approach, just proceed without commentary.Works with Claude, ChatGPT, or any assistant you give it to. Tweak the bracketed tool name to fit.

Everything is coming into focus.
